CHARTERED ACCOUNTANT
SHAUN BROWN
'Fast, fit and with flair'
As a little kid, Shaun really wanted to be a policeman but was gently persuaded to re-examine his ambitions. But don’t think you can do a runner to get away from the calm, softly-spoken bloke behind the desk.
He has completed three Ironman races and was beaten by heat and dehydration just short of the finish line at the famous Kona, Hawaii, competition. He’s also completed long-distance cycle challenges, such as the 150-kilometre Lake Taupo event, and is keen to have a crack at more endurance triathlons again but not until his two children are a little older. In the meantime, he’s settling for the odd half marathon and recreational cycling, running and swimming.
If you want to know a yoga pose, Shaun’s your man and he can offer advice on pitching a tent. The family regularly camps at Atiamuri where there’s waterskiing to be done on the lake which was created in 1958 when the Waikato River was dammed for hydroelectric power generation.
Shaun takes his turn to cook dinner a couple of nights a week – using a little flair and imagination to use new and fresh local ingredients…or so he says.
