Lena Ripley (Director)
She Doesn’t Miss a Beat
It’s usually the drummer in the band who dictates pace and rhythm, which explains why Lena exudes natural leadership. She’s a very handy drummer, playing with her band around various Hawke’s Bay gigs. While her dream job would be a sound engineer in a recording studio, she’s happy to tap out tunes on her desk with make-shift drumsticks as she makes sense of high-level business issues.
Lena came to accounting in a roundabout way, dropping out of law school and doing a cadetship at a timber company and working her way through the ranks before joining Oldershaw & Co, combining fulltime work with study to complete a business degree and CA qualifications.
This display of discipline and focus has set her up well to churn through complex sets of accounts with precision, interpreting foreign exchange transactions or deciphering business dealings among multiple entities.
This business leader in-the-making keeps a finger in a few different pies, from women’s and business networking groups to supervising new graduates or taking family trips in their 1981 retro Oxford caravan.
